English Story

Early in the morning, Jack and Annie climbed into the magic treehouse. Sunlight streamed through the leaves, but inside the treehouse a golden glow shone from a thick book. Annie opened it eagerly—it showed a grand colosseum and soldiers in armor.

“Ancient Rome!” Jack gasped. Annie clapped her hands. “Let’s go see it!” In a whirl of magic, they were transported back two thousand years.

They found themselves in a bustling city. Stone-paved roads stretched ahead, lined with arches and tall buildings. Horses pulled carts, crowds filled the streets, all dressed in flowing robes, talking about the upcoming games.

“This must be Rome!” Jack whispered, scribbling in his notebook: “Roads, buildings, colosseum—Rome’s pride.”

Soon, they met a boy named Marco carrying a basket. Inside was an injured pigeon.

“It’s my messenger bird,” Marco explained. “But it can’t fly now. I must deliver an important message to the army, or my father will be furious!”

Annie quickly offered, “We’ll help you!” Jack hesitated, then nodded—helping others was always part of their adventures.

They followed Marco through the marketplace, past tall temples, and near the roaring colosseum. Gladiators were preparing for battle, and the crowd cheered wildly. Annie wanted to stop and watch, but Jack reminded her, “We have a mission!”

In a narrow alley, some mischievous boys blocked their way, trying to grab the basket. Annie shouted at them, while Jack cleverly banged a piece of metal to make a loud noise, scaring them off.

At last, they reached the army camp. Marco handed over the pigeon and message to a soldier. “This is very important. Thank you,” the soldier said gratefully.

Then, the drums of the colosseum echoed, and Marco invited them to watch. Inside, the arena was filled with roaring crowds as gladiators fought bravely. Jack felt nervous but admired the Roman spirit of honor and courage. Annie was amazed by the people’s excitement.

As the sun set and the sky turned red, the treehouse called them home. They waved goodbye to Marco and returned to their own time.

Their Roman adventure taught them that knowledge and courage are equally important, and history is not only words in books but the real lives and choices of people.
