🏰 Life in Brobdingnag
On another voyage, Gulliver encountered another storm. When he climbed ashore, the grass seemed taller than him, and tree trunks looked like huge pillars. Before he could figure out what was happening, a giant as tall as a mountain grabbed him!
“What is this tiny thing?” the giant exclaimed.
Gulliver was like a doll, placed in a basket, and brought to the giant’s home. The giant’s little daughter immediately liked this “tiny friend,” carefully feeding him and sewing small clothes for him.
In Brobdingnag, everything seemed enormous. The table was as tall as the sky, and a bowl of soup was like a swimming pool—he had to use a wooden spoon to drink a single sip. Everything was fascinating, but Gulliver often felt weak and helpless.
One day, the king invited Gulliver to the palace to hear about humans. Gulliver spoke eagerly about human nations, armies, and inventions. But the king shook his head and sighed: “You can make cannons and warships, yet you use them to hurt each other. You fight over treasures—how barbaric!”
Gulliver was speechless. He realized that what humans considered civilization seemed so small in the eyes of giants.
He then understood: true greatness is not measured by size or strength, but by kindness and the ability to live peacefully.
