飛島上的奇人
☁️ Strange People on the Flying Island
On another voyage, Gulliver saw a floating island! Curious, he climbed aboard and discovered that the people there were strange. One eye always looked at the sky, the other at the ground, and their minds were filled with numbers and musical notes.
They were often absent-minded, nearly bumping into things, and their servants had to tap them with “tiny whips” to remind them to pay attention.
The islanders loved astronomy, math, and music. They could calculate how long the moon takes to orbit the Earth, but they didn’t know how to cook or farm. The people below suffered because the islanders focused only on study and neglected daily life.
Gulliver visited their academy, where people performed bizarre experiments: turning cucumbers into sunlight, extracting fire from ice, or teaching pigs to fly. None of it worked.
Gulliver shook his head and thought, “Knowledge is good, but if it doesn’t help others, it’s just empty imagination.”
When he left the flying island, he told himself: “Knowledge should improve life, not make people forget real needs.”
