4 -Gulliver's Travels 4

🐴 The Land of Horses

In his final journey, Gulliver reached a strange place inhabited by talking horses called Houyhnhnms.

The Houyhnhnms were intelligent. They never lied or quarreled, living simple but happy lives. Every decision was made rationally, without greed or jealousy.

However, the same land was home to ugly, filthy creatures called Yahoos. They looked like humans but acted like wild beasts—stealing, fighting, and bickering.

Gulliver was initially afraid of the Yahoos because their behavior resembled the worst of humanity. Gradually, he realized the Yahoos were very human-like, greedy and quarrelsome, while the Houyhnhnms were the true “humans,” honest, kind, and cooperative.

He grew fond of the Houyhnhnms and even began to dislike humans, seeing them as similar to Yahoos. The Houyhnhnms taught Gulliver that true nobility comes not from size or words, but from controlling desires and living honestly and peacefully.
